Collection Overview -- As of 2005, the combined FIU Libraries' holdings total more than 1.4 million volumes, including government documents, microforms, audiovisual materials and periodicals. The Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) holdings at the FIU library system have reached an estimated 67,000 titles, exclusive of government documents. The greatest strengths of the LAC collection lie in the areas of history, language and literature, economics, political science and international relations, with rapid gain registered in sociology. Regionally, the collection is strongest on Cuba, the Caribbean and the circum-Caribbean, with substantial holdings on Colombia and Central America as well. Collection Development Resources Partners and Consortia -- LACIC and the FIU Libraries have built strong relationships with other institutions and organizations in order to build a regional strength in Latin American and Caribbean Studies, in both library collections and in services. Please see the Partners & Consortia page for more details.
