  • The Digital Library of the Caribbean

    The Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC) is a cooperative digital library for resources from and about the Caribbean and circum-Caribbean. dLOC provides access to digitized versions of Caribbean cultural, historical and research materials currently held in archives, libraries, and private collections. Gayle Williams, LACIC Director, is one of the dLOC Co-Directors.

  • FC/LAS -- Florida Consortium for Latin American Studies

    Collaborative effort between the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) at the University of Florida in Gainesville and the Latin American and Caribbean Center (LACC) at Florida International University in Miami. Established in 1991 with US Department of Education Title VI support.

    The Latin American Collection at the UF Libraries and LACIC at the FIU Libraries cooperate in building a regional strength in LAC library collections to support FC/LAS. The libraries are proactive in this development by sharing duplicate materials and expertise. FC/LAS also offers annual Library Travel Grants.

  • LARRP -- Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Latin American Research Resources Project

    Consortium of over 45 U.S. research libraries and foreign institutions to improve access to research resources published in Latin America. The Project has three main components:

    1) Latin American Periodicals Table of Contents Database (LAPTOC) - a searchable Web database that provides access to the tables of contents of LAC-published journals.
    2) Latin American Open Archives Portal (LAOAP)- a portal service providing access to social sciences grey literature produced in Latin America by research institutes, non-governmental organizations, and peripheral agencies.
    3) Presidential Messages - a Web database that contains digital images of presidential speeches from Mexico and Argentina, early 19th century - present.
    4) Distributed Resources - an agreement among participating libraries designed to strengthen the collective coverage of materials produced in Latin America through the concerted reallocation of library collection budgets. FIU Libraries reallocate 7% of its Latin American materials budget to purchase Colombian materials.

  • LASER -- Latin American Studies Southeast Region Libraries

    Consortium of large academic libraries in the Southeast U.S. and Puerto Rico to promote and facilitate resource sharing and cooperative collection development on Latin America and the Caribbean. Sean Knowlton, Reference Librarian & Bibliographer of the Latin American Library Library of Tulane University, is Chair for the 2009-2012 term.

  • SEFLIN -- Southeast Florida Library Information Network

    Organization of 25+ Southeast Florida libraries, public and private, dedicated to cooperative library services. SEFLIN has recently launched a Southeast Florida union catalog, with both English and Spanish interfaces. Catherine Marsicek of LACIC sat on the Advisory Board for Mi Servicio de Biblioteca.

  • SUS -- State University System of Florida

    Consortium of the 10 public state universities in Florida. This cooperative offers one of the largest union catalogs in the country, along with centralized purchases of electronic databases and a centralized digital library of source materials, known as PALMM.

  • University of Miami Libraries

    Latin American and Caribbean Studies Librarians at the Univeristy of Miami Libraries partner with LACIC to provide outreach events to the research and library communities of UM and FIU. Past events include workshops on Latin America and the Internet, the ARL Latin Americanist Project, and a Tour of the Cuban Heritage Collection.
