Right-wing Uribe, Left-wing Chavez mend for economic purposes, July 11, 2008

Right-of-center leader of Colombia, Victor Uribe, met with his opposite, left-wing president Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, despite Chavez's open support of the FARC commandos in Colombia, and Uribe's pursuit of commandos into Ecuador. The meeting at the oil refinery of Falcon is meant to serve economic ends where the two nations are interdependent, such as a trans-national railroad and Colombia's entrance into the Orinoco Oil Belt organization.
