Guatemalan drug lords back political candidates, February 15, 2006

The government of Guatemala, where an estimated 75% of the world’s cocaine goes to North America, warned that in the upcoming 2007 presidential and congressional elections, drug lords may back upcoming candidates in order to have them turn a blind eye to drug lord activities. No arrests have yet been made in connection with these corruption allegations.
