Virginian AIDS worker murdered in Guyana, December 14, 2005

An American contractor working for the U.S.-backed Agency for International Development’s HIV/AIDS project was bludgeoned to death in his hotel room after inviting an unidentified assailant. Prints have been discovered, as was a blurry videotape, and Guyanese police wish to question a man who was “deeply dissatisfied” concerning Guyanese firms the AID AIDS project had selected. As a vast sum of money was discovered in the Virginian’s room, robbery was not a motive. The FBI has stepped in to work with Guyanese police to identify the assailant.
