Guyana spiritualist found guilty in exorcism-related death, September 21, 2005

Patricia Alves, 43, a spiritualist and leader of a Guyana “Spirit Church,” was found guilty of manslaughter by a Guyana jury for beating a woman to death to drive evil spirits out of her, and she faces up to 10 years in prison. Kamile Seenauth, the victim, was discovered buried in a shallow grave in soft mud when a foot was found sticking out of the ground in 2002.
