Venezuela to provide cheap heat and free eye operations for US poor, August 29, 2005

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez met with American social justice leader, Reverend Jesse Jackson, to work with him to distribute heating oil at a 40% discount amongst America’s poor, stating that hundreds of people in the United States freeze to death. The plan will be estimated to benefit seven to eight million people in the United States. The price discount will be possible as the oil will be distributed through Citgo, a branch of the nationalized Venezuelan petroleum industry. Chavez also offers the impoverished population of the United States 150,000 free eye operations at no cost. The fuel and operations will be distributed to the poor by Americans motivated to work against social injustice, such as Jesse Jackson.
