Brazilians demonstrate anger over bystander killed in London, July 26, 2005

Relatives and friends of a Brazilian electrician marched in the streets of the city of Gonzaga, demanding the arrests of the London police officers that killed 27 year old Jean Charles de Menezes. The shots happened at a London subway station, where according to witnesses, police, with shoot-to-kill orders, pinned Menezes to the floor of a subway car and shot him at least seven times, six in the head and once in the shoulder. Jean Charles de Menezes ran from police because while he was in the country legally, his visa had expired. Blair has apologized for the deaths, however, this has proven unsatisfying to Brazilians, partially as a result of the fact his body has yet to be returned to Brazil.
