Vidal Cerrato, former Vice-President of Honduras from 1998-2001 under President Carlos Flores, died in a hospital in Tegucigalpa of a heart attack at the age of 63. At the time of his death, Cerrato was representative of Honduras to the Central American Parliament, a council representing the interests of five of the seven Central American nations, as well as being state of Olancho director of the opposition Liberal Party’s upcoming elections in November, a position he also held in 1981 and 1985.
