Colombian Navy arrests sailors for drug smuggling, June 30, 2005

Sailors in the Colombian navy were arrested for alleged drug smuggling after a raid in the small town of Timbiqui, 280 miles southwest of Bogota. Money, jewels, drug-making chemicals, and papers were discovered that linked sailors to a drug gang that smuggled cocaine through Panama and Mexico to the United States. This is not the first time the navy has discovered drug smuggling among their own. In 2004, the Colombian flagship Gloria was found to have dozens of bags of heroin and cocaine in the engine room.
