Presidents of Paraguay and Uruguay meet, May 13, 2005 After leaving the Arab-Latin summit in Brasilia, leftist Uruguayan president Tabare Vazquez has visited neighbor nation Paraguay, meeting his opposite number, Nicanor Duarte. The purpose of the visit is to step up trade and investment in MERCOSUR, the South American trade community, in the wake of the Arab-Latin conference. A dinner will be held in the capital Asuncion, to mark the historic meeting, only the third visit made by leftist Vazquez since leaving office, the others to Brazil and Argentina.
