Bolivian Socialist Party Celebrates 10th Anniversary, March 29, 2005 The Bolivian opposition party, the Movement toward Socialism, or MAS, celebrates its’ tenth anniversary by holding of rallies in Capinota, Cochabamba. MAS was created in support of Coca growers, but has expanded to include political organizations, and is closely allied to Venezuela, which has caused Washington to label it a part of the “Axis of Evil.” While the MAS party has never received more than 21% of the vote in Bolivia, few of the many parties receive more than 30%.
