Soviet-Era Nicaraguan Shoulder Rockets to be Banned, February 23, 2005

An American envoy from the U.S. State Department arrived in Nicaragua concerned that the promise to destroy personal SAM-7 rockets was not kept. These personal shoulder-mounted rockets were given by the Cubans and Soviets to support the socialist revolutionaries in operation in Nicaragua. The Pentagon’s primary concern is that the rockets will be sold to international terrorism.
