The two year "Cocktail War" between the European Union and Cuba, where Cuba was removed from European Union social gatherings before relations were entirely denormalized in March 2003, after a vigorous crackdown of dissidents, ended, with resumption of normal ties to Havana. Relations were normalized as Cuba released 14 of the 75 prisoners. The 25 member nation European Union is Cuba’s largest trading partner, totaling $2.3 billion.
