Captured Colombian Rebel Hints at Conspiracy, January 25, 2005

Rodrigo Granda, a foreign affairs agent operating in Colombia for the leftist guerilla organization FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) was captured on the city streets in Caracas, Venezuela. Colombia demands an explanation why the guerilla was allowed to move freely in Venezuela, and even receive a Venezuelan passport. Venezuela charges that the officers in charge of the capture of Granda operated without authorization, and are believed to either be bribed by Colombian agents, or hired mercenaries. United States Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice denies any possibility of U.S. involvement in the capture.
