Grenada Visited by Secretary of State Powell, October 7, 2004

Colin Powell visited the island nation of Grenada, shaking hands with Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, stating that the United States was sending $100 million in recovery assistance to the storm-racked Caribbean, the majority of which would be sent to the hardest hit, Grenada. Grenada has reported losses totalling $900 million in property damage and lost homes, including the Prime Minster's, as well as having lost 60% of the island's nutmeg crop. No statement has been made as to whether or not Grenadans affected by the crash will be granted refugee status in the United States.
