Paraguay General Charged with Treason, Murder, June 30, 2004

Former General Lino Oviedo, an army chief convicted of attempting to overthrow the government returned home to Paraguay from exile in Brazil after a poltical crisis in 1999, where he was accused of plotting the toppling of President Juan Carlos Wasmosy, and attempted assassination of Vice President Luis Maria Argana. He claims he is returning to Paraguay in order to prove his innocence.
