Honduras Investigates Anti-Castro Smugglers, June 23, 2004

Claiming that a suspiciously high number of Cubans have arrived on the shores of Honduras, the Honduran Immigration Department vows to investigate whether Florida Anti-Castro Exiles are attempting to use Honduras as a stopping point on a trail to the United States. Honduran officials believe that the rafters first head to the Grand Cayman Island for supplies before heading onward to Honduras. "We believe there are people and organizations in Miami that are financing and promoting the departure of so many Cubans from the island, ... and we are investigating that," said Immigration Director-General Ramon Romero.
