Sued British Journalist Ordered to Remain in Peru, May 24, 2004

Sally Bowen, a former correspondent for the Financial Times, was ordered by Peruvian court to remain in that country as a result of a trial concerning a $10 million dollar libel suit placed against her by Fernando Zevallos, as a result of her book on Peruvian politics, "The Imperfect Spy: The Many Lives of Vladimiro Montesinos," described Zevallos, the owner of Aero Continente, as a cocaine runner. The source was an unnamed former informant for the United States Drug Enforcement Agency. Zevallos states that he has never been convicted of a crime and is the victim of character assasinatiion.
