Bus Crushed in Worst Road Disaster in Colombia History, April 29, 2004

In what is the worst road disaster in the history of Columbia, in Bogota a construction crew's 45-ton backhoe rolled off a ledge 70 feet straight down onto the highway below and slammed into a school bus, which was returning students back to their homes in the middle-class Suba District from Agustiniano School during the peak rush hour, with 21 students instantly killed, as well as 2 adults. 36 children as well were wounded, and over 100 rescue workers have been operating to free the children trapped under the debris. The bus driver survived the accident unharmed, and the backhoe driver is hospitalized in critical condition.
