Brazil Vows to use Nuclear Power for Peace, April 6, 2004

After a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency stating that Brazil was not permitting its’ inspectors to investigate, Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim issued a statement that the country was to use Nuclear Power for production of peaceful cheap energy exclusively, and that the removal of the inspectors was in their right to protect their technology. He further stated that the goal of the Nuclear Powers should be disarmament. Brazil has the world’s fifth largest reserves of Uranium, which is mined and made safe for use with centrifuges. By 2014, the goal of the program is to create sufficient uranium to power two nuclear power plants, Angra and Angra-1.
