Mexico Green Party Leader Charged With Taking $2 Million Bribe, February 25, 2004

Leader of Mexico's fourth largest political party and sitting senator, Jorge Emilio Gonzalez, known by his nickname of "Kid Green" in Mexico, was found on a grainy black and white tape what opponents claim is his accepting of a 2 million dollar bribe from a land developer. Denying any wrongdoingm, refusing to surrender or step down and pointing out in the tape no actual money is exchanged, Jorge Emilio Gonzalez claims his party is seen as a threat to the Mexican government and party of President Vicente Fox, though the Party denies any official involvement. Jorge Emilio Gonzalez is the youngest persoh ever to be the sitting head of a Mexican political party at age 29.
