Venezuela Accepts Colombian Refugees, February 11, 2004

Venezuela has agreed to grant refugee status to Colombians fleeing the violence in Colombia, allowing them protections and rights under Venezuelan law. Colombia's growing population of internally displaced people and those crossing the borders into countries like Ecuador and Venezuela has been called a 'humanitarian crisis' by the UN.
