Cuban Grammy Nominees Denied U.S. Visas, February 6, 2004

Several Cuban musicians nominated for Grammy Awards have been denied U.S. visas to attend the awards ceremony. The Cuban government complained that the visas were denied under regulations that bar entry to those considered a threat to national security. Cuba asserted that this was the result of the Bush administration caving in to pressure from the Cuban exile community. Several Cuban musicians were also nominated for Latin Grammy Awards, but their visas arrived too late for them to attend.
