Protests in Haiti Continue, January 27, 2004

Protests demanding the resignation of President Aristide in Haiti continue, despite Aristide agreeing to meet with the opposition and his talks with other Caribbean leaders. The opposition consists of students, radical and political groups, civic and church groups, whom insist that Aristide's re-election in 2000 was rigged. There have been 48 deaths so far in protest-related violence since the protests began in September.
