361 Hatians Repatriated by U.S., November 9, 2003

A 54-foot slooped boat carrying 361 Hatians, 348 of which were adults, was intercepted by the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Escanaba near the Bahamas. The boat interception is one of many attempts at migration from the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, with the vast majority of them taking place after the end of Hurricane Season on November 30th.
