U.S. Senate Eases Travel Ban on Cuba, October 27, 2003

The United States Senate voted 59-36 to ease travel restrictions to Cuba on October 23, 2003. The loosening of restrictions comes directly after President Bush's statements, to tighten further restrictions to the island nation. It is estimated that 25,000 individuals visit Cuba without legal permission from the Treasury Department, whose restrictions to travel principally center around the amount of money that can be spent in Cuba.
