Case Charges Texaco With Pollution in Ecuador, October 23, 2003

The Chevron Texaco corporation, which helped develop Ecuador's oil industry, is being charged with dumping oil waste that contaminated water and affected thousands of people.  This is the first time a U.S. multinational corporation has been tried for environmental pollution in another country.  Should Texaco be found guilty, the U.S. Court of Appeals in New York, has ruled that any financial penalty will be enforceable in the U.S.
