US Decision to Send Troops to Colombia Not Well-Received, February 23, 2003

On Sunday, February 23rd, 2003, Colombian politicians criticized the US decision to send more troops to Colombia to search for three Americans kidnapped on an intelligence mission after being shot down by the FARC rebels. Though figures cannot be verified, it is thought that the number of additional US soldiers is to be around 150. Though opinions varied, most of the Colombian officials who commented agreed that Washington’s decision was ill-advised.
