SciELO, Scientific Electronic Library Online, is a free resource with access to full-text, on-line scientific journals from Latin America, the Caribbean and Spain. SciELO began in Brazil in the late 1990s to provide access to up-to-date scientific and technical information published in Latin America that often faces distribution and dissemination barriers.

SciELO now includes over 500 full-text scientific journals from Brazil, Chile, Cuba and Spain and is growing. It also includes a separate collection of Latin American public health journals, called SciELO Public Health.
