Visiting Librarian from UWI at St. Augustine, August 2005

LACiC will be hosting a visiting Librarian from the University of the West Indies at St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago for a week in mid-August. Kathleen Helenese-Paul, Head of the West Indiana and Special Collections at UWI, will be exploring our Caribbean collections in terms of content, collection development methods, and any special collections that we hold. She is also interested in discovering areas of overlap and investigating possibilities of exchange.

Kathleen will be also be visiting other South Florida Libraries with significant Caribbean collections during her stay, including the Main Branch of the Broward County Library, the African American Research Library and Cultural Center, and the Richter Library at the University of Miami.

During her visit, Kathleen will be giving a presentation on the West Indiana Collection, its treasures and its collection development strategies.
