LACIC Librarian Wins Excellence in Librarianship Award, Fall 2004

Catherine Marsicek, the Latin American and Caribbean Information Services Librarian and the Director of LACIC, has received the Excellence in Librarianship Award for 2004.

Dr. Eduardo Gamarra, Director of the Latin American and Caribbean Center, nominated Catherine for this award. "With scarce resources, Ms. Marsicek manages an outstanding service unit that provides support to faculty, students and visitors. Ms. Marsicek has earned the respect of fellow librarians as well as faculty and staff from other Latin American Studies centers across the country," wrote Gamarra in his nomination letter.

This award recognizes the outstanding contributions and support given to the University, the community, and the library field by librarians. The award is given to librarians who provide innovative contributions to the University, the community, and the library field, put forth extra effort to improve library services, collections, etc., and demonstrate excellence in the library profession, including outstanding contributions to the University and the community.
