2nd Annual Student Conference on Latin American and Caribbean Studies, April 1-2, 2004

The Latin American and Caribbean Center is hosting the 2nd Annual Student Conference on Latin American and Caribbean Studies at FIU from April 1-2, 2004. The conference provides students with an opportunity to share scholarly work. This year's panels include Economics and Trade, Elections and Politics, Andean Politics, Environmental and Health Issues, Culture and Literature, Caribbean Studies, Indigenous and Human Rights, and Civil Society.

Paper Competition:

This year there will again be a paper competition with cash prizes. All papers submitted will be presented at the student conference. Best paper awards will be announced at the beginning of the conference.

J. Noe Herrera of Libros de Colombia has generously contributed cash prizes for the paper competition. This is the third year Mr. Herrera has offered prizes for papers dealing with Colombian issues. Special thanks to Mr. Herrera for his continued support of student work and his dedication to supporting the development of a significant Colombian collection at FIU Libraries.
