Bohemia, 1917-1953, June 2005

The Cuban Research Institute, the Latin American and Caribbean Center, and the Libraries pooled funds in Spring 2005 to purchase back issues of Bohemia, one of the most important Cuban periodicals. Issues from 1917 through 1953 were recently added to the Microfilm collection. FIU Libraries also have a current subscription to the journal, available in the UP Periodicals Collection.

Founded in 1908, Bohemia has become one of the longest continually-published journals from Cuba. It highlights cultural events, arts and literature, sports, history, and current events. In the early 1960s, versions of Bohemia also appeared in Puerto Rico and in Venezuela, at times under the title Bohemia Libre.

FIU Libraries are pleased to collaborate so closely with our academic partners in order to build an exceptional collection in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. The Libraries hope to complete the Bohemia collection in the upcoming year.
