Major Gift of Andean Materials from Fundación INCA, February 2005

Alfredo Montalvo, the founder and director of Fundación INCA (Instituto Nacional de Cultura Andina), has pledged a donation of approximately 4,000 recent and retrospective titles on the Andean region to FIU Libraries. This major donation will include materials in the social sciences and humanities, including government documents, from Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. This gift will contribute significantly to strengthening FIU Libraries' Andean holdings. The Libraries are grateful to Sr. Montalvo for his very generous donation and his support for research in Andean Studies at FIU. The majority of these titles should be added to the Libraries' holdings by the end of Summer 2005.

Fundación INCA, a private organization in Cochabamba, Bolivia, houses one of the largest collections of Andean materials in the region. Both local and international scholars have access to these collections. Fundación INCA is dedicated to promoting intellectual development in the Andean region and beyond, through the use of its collections.

The Latin American and Caribbean Center at FIU has recently partnered with Fundación INCA to offer study abroad and research programs at the Foundation. For more information on these programs, please see the Andean Studies Program.
