New Titles on African Influences in Latin America and the Caribbean, March 2005

The acquisition of a number of recent titles illustrates FIU Libraries' continued development of the collection on the African Diaspora in the New World. Some of the new titles highlight the growing pool of research on populations of African descent, whose histories and contributions have often been marginalized and ignored. Others focus on spaces of African influence in the Americas -primarily in the areas of religion and music- in which continuities remain highly visible. These books focus on African influence in locations like Brazil, the Andean region and the Caribbean. Check the library catalog for more listings.
