Electronic Resources, Spring 2001

Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) publications are now full-text, on-line. Country Reports, Country Profiles, Business Latin America, Country Commerce, Country Finance and Investing, Licensing & Trading provide excellent coverage, analysis and forecasts of the political, economic and business environment for Latin American and Caribbean countries. These publications can be accessed from the Library Home Page from both campuses, your FIU office and even your home computers, if affiliated with FIU.

Complementing the print version of the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, FIU Libraries now also subscribe to both in a full-text, on-line format through ProQuest. The on-line New York Times goes back to 1999, and the index is entirely retrospective. The on-line version of the Wall Street Journal dates back to 1984, again, with the index fully retrospective.

An index to the Cuban newspaper Diario de la Marina is now available on CD-ROM. The Caribbean Newspapers Imaging Project (CNIP) selectively indexes articles in El Diario from post WWII to 1960. FIU Libraries holds El Diario de la Marina from 1889-1960 on microfilm in the UP Periodicals area. CNIP also has a selective index to the Haitian newspaper Le Nouvelliste from the 1880s to the 1980s. The CNIP index is only available on LACIC computers in GL 225.
